If you are living with diabetes, it’s important to have your eyes screened annually for diabetic retinopathy — a common diabetes-related complication that can lead to vision loss if left untreated. Early detection through routine annual screening is key to protecting your vision and overall health.
We are proud to offer monthly diabetic retinopathy screening clinics at our Indigenous primary care centre. If you have diabetes and have not had an eye screening in the past year, we encourage you to call and book an appointment.
This service is part of the Eye Health Screening Initiative (EHSI), delivered in partnership with the Vision Loss Rehabilitation Canada (VLRC) and the Indigenous Diabetes Health Circle (IDHC). The program was developed with guidance from local Indigenous partners to ensure care is accessible, culturally safe, and responsive to community needs.
IIPCT is honored to be one of the participating communities offering this vital service.
